The PPC was successful. The exercises were all scored as "3" and "4". In the very short All-Good Debriefing, your objective is to facilitate crew discussion around non-technical elements and/or some sub-elements that contributed to the success of the whole event. Offer the pilots to debrief themselves (High Level Facilitation), making sure they will include non-technical issues you have observed during the PPC.
Some crews lack experience in analyzing non-technical CRM aspects of their PPC without assistance. You may lead the discussion more directly towards non-technical elements (Medium Level Facilitation).
The All-Good Debriefing should be limited to a few minutes.
1. Verdict. Verdict is always said twice. The first time at the moment the PPC ends, then once again, in the debriefing room.
Congratulations to both of you. The PPCs are issued/renewed. It was a great ride, with lots of good things. Let's meet in the debriefing room at half past two o'clock, downstairs. Please take your belongings with you.
Avoid setting the meeting time in x minutes, but state the time (hours, minutes). Then, when you are ready, begin the debrief by stating the verdict again.
2. High Level Facilitation. Let the pilots talk about their success. Because the debrief will be kept very short, if you need to steer, use FTG-focussed questions, such as:
Referring to Situational Awareness, Cooperation, Decision Making and Leadership, Managerial Skills, which one of these four non-technical elements expressed itself the best today? In other words, why did it go so well today?
Then summarize.
If I understand well, the secret of you success today is the element Cooperation. Let see how the Flight Test Guide debrides it. It says... (sub-element 1, sub-element 2, sub-element 3 and sub-element 4). I really like your approach and the way you describe it.
Only when you feel the level of fatigue is acceptable to add a few minutes to the debrief, consider asking the pilots what they see could be improved, such as
Is there anything from today you wish you did differently?
End the debrief and allow the pilots to leave the building. It Crew Rest time.
Do you have any question?
It was great to observe you today. I look forward to meet with you again in the future.
3. Authorized Person. Successful initial PPC may lead to a new Type Rating and/or a new Instrument Rating. Only once the PPC is considered successful, the ACP asks the pilot(s) to date and sign the 0083 Form. Make sure to write the temporary privilege(s) in the pilots' ADBs.
4. Advise Flight Operations. Use the usual channels to inform the company about today's outcome, and tell them the PFTRs will follow.
5. Complete the PFTRs. You have five days to produce quality PFTRs. Don't comment exercises scored "3" and "4". Your recommendations to the Chief Pilot are crucial for future PPC scripts development.
