21. PM Duties
Aim
Determine the candidate’s ability to demonstrate proper division of PM duties in accordance with the COM and SOP’s.
Description
Each pilot will demonstrate PM duties sufficient to determine compliance with and knowledge of, aircraft procedures and company SOP’s. This will include normal and abnormal procedures while operating as PM. Flight crew may be required to conduct PM duties from a seat position that they do not normally occupy (PPC with two Captains or two F/Os). In this situation, the training unit will provide PM training to the candidates in the seat they will occupy during the PPC.
Performance Criteria
(06/2017 FTG p.42) Assess on the candidate’s ability to:
- adhere to PM duties as outlined in the COM and/or SOP’s;
- complete necessary duties assigned by the pilot flying;
- maintain crew discipline during normal and abnormal procedures;
- demonstrate familiarity with the procedures contained in the QRH or paper checklist;
- demonstrate FMS inputs, as applicable;
- maintain situational awareness as a crew member;
- effectively share cockpit workload; and
- maintain crew awareness, or attention to flight mode annunciations.
Commenting a "1"
- Not familiar with PM duties. Required constant prompts by PF.
- PM required excessive help from PF to accomplish tasks.
- Not completing duties assigned by the PF without continued prompting.
- Not maintaining crew discipline during abnormal procedures.
- Not familiar with procedures contained in QRH (or checklists).
- Incorrect FMS programming. Unsatisfactory FMS proficiency.
- Execution delay allowed deviations (__Qty__) in excess of FTG performance criteria (ref.).
Commenting a "2"
- Missed some PM duties. Required occasional prompts by PF.
- Required help from PF to accomplish the (name of exercise) PM duties.
- Slow and/or required prompting to complete duties assigned by the PF.
- Not maintaining crew discipline during abnormal procedures.
- Items missed when carrying out QRH (name of check). Required support from PF.
- EFMS programming errors. Corrected before the procedure began.
- Execution delay allowed deviations (__Qty__). Perceived, corrected, but required second attempt.
